Homage to the Square, three-dimensional, abstract. Homage to Josef Albers.
Just like Josef Albers, Thomas Peter Kausel experiments with colors, shapes, lines, surfaces and their interactions on cognitive as well as subjective visual perception: “Only appearances are not deceiving”. With his three-dimensional series, Kausel documents his investigations into the interaction of shapes and colors on square color surfaces or image carriers. The name of the color is always on the back of the pictures. Just like Josef Albers, Kausel makes it clear with his three-dimensional works that the viewer perceives the colors for themselves and with each other completely differently depending on the surroundings.
